Objective: Design a 4-page magazine spread of a Vice article
To evoke a visceral sense of urgency and danger, I utilized a tactile, 'ransom-style' typographic treatment. By hand-assembling individual letterforms from magazine clippings, I created a distressed visual narrative that mirrors the high-stakes subject matter of the article. This analog approach ensures the viewer immediately grasps the gravity of the narrative through an unsettling and impactful aesthetic.
To capture a raw, authentic texture that felt true to the narrative, I utilized a mixed-media approach. I directed a custom photoshoot involving physical props—including weathered chains and organic textures—to create a bespoke visual asset. By post-processing these elements in Photoshop, I developed a gritty, high-contrast composition that visually echoes the intense language and themes expressed throughout the article.
